Prayer for Week 2 (beginning 1.7.08)

I once heard a guy say that when God wants to start a work, He begins with the men. I wasn't sure how I felt about that comment until I thought of Genesis 3:9. The Bible says that, after eating the fruit, "Adam and his wife" hid themselves from God. Gen 3:9 says, "then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?" Since we know that God already knew that it was Eve who first ate of the fruit and then gave it to Adam, I think it's important to note that God addressed Adam first. So, this week let's lift the men of America in prayer to God. While my intercessions are general, please pray for any specific men who God places on your heart.

INTERCESSIONS
Christian men:
- that Christian men would live pure lives in thoughts, words, and deeds (Psalm 24:4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully)
- that Christian men would be obedient to their call to be spiritual leaders of their families and to serve in this role faithfully and passionately (Joshua 24:15 ... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.)
- that God will place a burden on the heart of His men to actively care for and protect the needy and defenseless of the world, such as children, elderly, single mothers, etc.(Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.)
- that Christian men in leadership positions (employers, government officials, teachers, fathers, etc) would make all decisions in line with Scripture and to glorify God (Col 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men).

Men who are not YET believers:
- that unsaved men will no longer be blinded to spiritual truth (Acts 26:18 ...to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive forgivenss of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.)
- that just as God had pity on the wicked city of Ninevah (Jonah 4:11), he would also have mercy on the United States and cleanse men from their sin (Titus 3:5 ...not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.)
- that unsaved men will see the truth of their sinful lives and be filled with godly sorrow (1 Cor 7: 10 ...for godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted, but the sorrow of the world produces death.)
-that men (especially those who make decisions in parenting, education, lawmaking, entertainment, etc) would be saved and start making changes in their spheres of influence to turn our country to God (Acts 14:15 ...and saying, "Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them)
